THE CONSULTATION

At the first visit/consultation, the patient will undergo a very thorough physical and neurological examination.  This will include:

A Full Case History:  All relevant details of your presenting condition (past and present) will be noted, as well as a history of your general health.  Specific questioning on the type, severity, length, progression and aggravating factors of your condition will help the chiropractor determine the diagnosis and the likely outcome to chiropractic healthcare.

Postural analysis:  Observation of your standing posture can reveal a lot about your ailment and give an objective goal to remedy.  This may include: a forward head posture, a tilting of the head to one side, a raised or forward shoulder, a low pelvis to one side, a flat or hollow low back, outward turned foot, flat feet etc.

Neurological Tests:  These tests will establish the health of your nervous system.  Only the most pertinent tests will be carried out for musculo-skeletal conditions but many tests will be carried to determine the neurological health status of a child who is suspected as having ‘development delay syndrome’.  These may include:

  • Bi-lateral blood pressure
  • Heart rate monitor
  • Cranial nerve tests
  • Electronic analysis of the oxygen in your blood
  • Electronic analysis of blood flow
  • Detection of primitive reflexes
  • Functional analysis of the cerebellum, mid-brain and cerebrum
  • Analysis of the autonomic nervous systems.

Orthopaedic Tests:     These tests will help determine the integrity of your joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments.
